Community Gatherings:
Celebration of Belonging,

Honoring Missed Motherhood

“We don’t heal in isolation, but in community.”
~ S. Kelley Harrell, Gift of the Dreamtime – Reader’s Companion

As a result of the work we have done and the need we have clarified, we have created a community gathering to honor women who have experienced any of the five categories of missed motherhood—the times in a woman’s life when she is not a mother, by chance or by choice:

          •  Inability to conceive a child that is wanted

          •  End of pregnancy, wanted or not

          •  Birthing a child and placing it for adoption

          •  Missing the opportunity to conceive, childless by chance

          •  Choosing not to  have children, to be childfree

The gathering provides a supportive environment for a woman to bring more of herself into connection with community, to be seen and to be honored. It also offers the community an opportunity to recognize, support and honor the broad spectrum of the experience of the feminine. The gatherings include sharing of stories, public honoring of hidden sorrow, meditations, rituals, community validation and music.
