Mother's Day Services
Honoring The Feminine
Generations of Women
Mothers’ Day can be a painful time for women who have experienced pregnancy loss, infertility or childlessness by chance or by choice.
In 2003, as a result of the work Kani and Barbara were doing with women who had missed motherhood, Kani initiated the idea of a Mother’s Day service that honors all women, not just mothers. Kani and Unity minister, Rev. Sherry Lady, co-created and led a service entitled “Honoring the Feminine.” The following year, they created an alternate version, featuring the “Generations of Women.” Mothers Day 2013 the service was again led by Kani Comstock and Sherry Lady in Eugene Oregon.
Both versions of the Mothers Day Service are included in the Resources section of the book, Honoring Missed Motherhood, Loss, Choice and Creativity. We invite any church or organization to use or modify with attribution.
